At Forbs Behavioral Health Services, we utilize the Test of Variables of Attention (T.O.V.A.), a scientifically validated, computer-based assessment. T.O.V.A. objectively measures focus, reaction time, consistency, and impulse control — providing critical data that strengthens a full ADHD evaluation.

How the TOVA Test Works
TOVA testing is simple, non-invasive, and easily administered both in-office and remotely. Here’s what to expect:

You’ll sit at a computer and press a button when you see or hear specific targets.

Testing takes approximately 21.6 minutes for adults and 10.8 minutes for young children.

The visual version shows geometric shapes; the auditory version uses tones played through speakers.

Your responses are compared to typical attention patterns — and to patterns commonly seen in individuals with ADHD.
Important: While TOVA is a powerful tool, it is part of a complete evaluation and not a standalone diagnostic test. Your provider will combine TOVA results with other assessments for a full understanding of your symptoms.
